DR. PETER ROBLESS

Ex-President of the Asian Society for Vascular Surgery

Dr. Peter Robless served as President of the Asian Society for Vascular Surgery in 2016 and was the Founding President of the Society for Vascular and Endovascular Surgeons of Singapore. He earned his MBChB from the University of Aberdeen, UK, in 1992 and completed General Surgery training in Scotland, obtaining the FRCS from the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh in 1996. He then moved to London as a research fellow at St Mary’s Hospital, working on the MRC-funded Asymptomatic Carotid Surgery Trial, before training as a specialist registrar in General and Vascular Surgery. Later on, Dr Robless obtained the Intercollegiate FRCS in General Surgery in 2003 and the UK Certificate of Completion of Specialist Training in 2004. The same year, he became a Fellow of the European Board of Vascular Surgery.

After moving to Australia in 2004 for a year as a Vascular Fellow at St George Hospital, Sydney, specializing in Endovascular Surgery, Dr. Robless then returned to Singapore in 2005 as an Associate Professor at the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine and Consultant Vascular Surgeon at the National University Hospital (NUH). Over the next 9 years, he founded the Division of Vascular and Endovascular Surgery at NUH. He served as Program Director for the Vascular Medicine and Therapy Program and Director of the Non-Invasive Vascular Laboratory at the National University Heart Centre Singapore. In 2006, he was awarded a Doctorate of Medicine from the University of London. He then received a National Healthcare Group grant in 2009 to study at the Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital, Harvard Medical Hospital, Boston, and Cleveland Clinic, Ohio.

Dr. Robless has been awarded the NUH STAR award for patient care from 2005 to 2007 and is committed to holistic patient care, aiming for the best outcomes for his patients and their families.
